Meet the maker
ALEGRIA DESIGNS was born from a love of creating beautiful, finished pieces from scratch. Every step of the process is thoughtfully considered to create one-of-a-kind beaded jewellery, made with care, patience and passion. My true passion is bead weaving with needle and thread — a wonderful throwback to my lifelong love of sewing. Each bead is carefully selected to meet a high standard, and I work exclusively with glass beads and crystals to create pieces that sparkle, shine and stand the test of time. I have something of a magpie personality, so naturally, I love anything that catches the light! My pieces are designed to sparkle and draw attention to the wearer, while also capturing the feeling behind the name Alegria, which loosely translates to joy and happiness. WHERE IT ALL BEGAN My journey began on 2 September 2014 (my birthday) with just a few packets of Japanese Miyuki and TOHO seed and cylinder beads. There was something about these tiny, perfectly formed beads that immediately captivated me. Their precision and consistency appealed to my structured mind — each bead designed to fit neatly alongside the next, allowing intricate patterns and truly unique pieces of jewellery to emerge. Miyuki Delica beads, in particular, fascinated me. Their cylindrical shape allows them to fit together almost like pieces of a puzzle, creating beautifully structured designs with minimal visible thread. I was hooked. That fascination led me on a journey to find talented tutors who could help me develop my skills, understand the intricacies of bead weaving, and ultimately create jewellery that is both timeless and statement-making. MADE WITH HEART Every piece is handmade by me, from the very first bead to the final finishing touch. Because each piece is made by hand, it may have a tiny character quirk — probably something only I would notice! But those little imperfections are part of what makes handmade jewellery special. No two pieces are ever completely alike. I pour my heart and soul into every creation because I want the person who wears an Alegria Designs piece to feel loved and cherished. Whether it's worn to work, a family celebration, a special occasion, or simply to the beach with the kids, my hope is that each piece brings a little sparkle and a lot of joy to the person wearing it.
