Our story
Meet the maker
Our story begins with a lifelong love of colour, texture and beautiful things made with care. After spending much of her working life in the creative world of retail, window dressing and visual merchandising, Astrid found a new way to bring that creative instinct to life: hand weaving. Every blanket and throw is created entirely by hand, using only her fingers and a distinctive weaving technique. There are no production lines and no mass-made pieces. Each blanket develops slowly, row by row, with its own subtle character. The collection is inspired by the Cape Floral Kingdom - one of the most extraordinary natural landscapes in the world. Its fynbos, wildflowers, earthy tones and unexpected bursts of colour provide an endless palette, influencing the combinations Astrid chooses for each piece. Thick, soft, high-quality yarn gives the blankets their wonderfully tactile feel, while oversized hand-made tassels and a stitched leather-look tag provide the finishing touches. The result is something both practical and beautiful - a piece designed to bring warmth, texture and personality into a home. At the heart of the brand is a belief in slower, more thoughtful making. In a world filled with things produced quickly and identically, Astrid's blankets celebrate the beauty of the human hand - the tiny variations, the hours of work and the knowledge that one person made this particular piece from beginning to end. They are blankets to curl up under, throws to live with and pieces intended to be loved for years. Made slowly. Made by hand. Inspired by the Cape.
