Our story
Meet the maker
I named my craft shop, Athena Authentic Creations, after the Greek goddess Athena, who, according to myth, breathed life into the clay figures created by Prometheus. That's how I feel about every piece I make. Whether it's crochet, beadwork, macramé or wire art, each creation is handmade with care, patience and a little love before it finds its forever home. My love of crafting began with my grandmother, who taught me to knit, crochet and live by one simple rule: If you can make it, why buy it? More importantly, she taught me to believe I could learn to make almost anything. Today my imagination finds its way into beadwork, amigurumi, macramé and wire art. No two pieces are ever exactly alike—and that's part of their charm. I create for the smile when someone meets their new crocheted companion for the first time. For the message telling me a plant hanger is perfect in its new home. For the way a suncatcher catches the afternoon sun and fills a room with dancing light. Those moments remind me that handmade things carry something more than thread, beads, cord or wire. They carry the love that was woven into them from the very beginning.
